Two hours before her on-air debut, CBS's consummate jokester and funny man Bob Scheiffer, hid a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach in her handbag.
The Skinny White Guy stepped up and diffused what might have been a disaster. He scuffled with the cockroach, subdued it and held it in the Styrofoam container of Katy's leftover MuGu GaiPan, then contacted the Gotham City Insect Rescue Association. The cockroach was placed with a foster family in Brooklyn, awaiting placement in a permanent home.
When asked about the prank after her broadcast, she blushed. "My knight in shining armor was sooo skinny and sooo white. I can't get him out of my mind."
